An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Fabric Buyer to join our Sew Centre Team, a fun and supportive group within a fast-paced and dynamic environment!

Join our dynamic team at Spotlight as an experienced Buyer in the Sew and Fabric department. In this role, you’ll drive category growth and unleash your creativity by developing commercially relevant fabric ranges. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Play a critical role in delivering the business strategy and enhancing the Spotlight Retail experience
  • Build commercially balanced product ranges aligned with company strategy, managing the end-to-end product lifecycle including product, pricing and go-to-market plans
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve financial objectives including sales, profit and stock turnover
  • Recognise and interpret trends to build ranges that maintain consistent brand identity
  • Apply commercial skills and customer insights to deliver long-term strategic growth
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Trade the department in partnership with the Business Development Manager and Planner by optimising profit, maximising sales and proactively managing marketing and markdowns
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of competitor activity and external trends, identifying missed opportunities to maximise revenue
  • Maintain effective supplier relationships
  • Coach and develop Buyer Assistant
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company procedures.

 

About You

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Category Manager or Buyer in apparel or textiles
  • Excellent textile product knowledge and understanding of fabric construction
  • A degree in merchandise buying or business is highly regarded
  • Proven experience in a fast-paced, agile environment with shifting priorities
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams
  • A data-driven mindset, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Passion for continuous improvement and delivering outstanding results
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proven ability to negotiate and manage supplier relationships
